Keto Ply manufactures IS 710 marine plywood at Yamunanagar and supplies it across Chirawa to school and hostel washroom joinery, haveli bathroom conversions and home kitchens across the Jhunjhunu belt, in 6 mm to 25 mm boards.
IS 710 | Marine Grade | 6 mm to 25 mm
Marine plywood is the most loosely used word in the Indian plywood trade. A board is marine grade because it meets IS 710, which means an unextended phenol formaldehyde bond, 72 hours submerged in boiling water with the plies still intact, and pressure preservative treatment against termite and borer. It is not marine grade because the word appears on a sticker. Shekhawati has an unusual buying pattern: a great many houses here are built or renovated while the family that owns them is working elsewhere, sometimes abroad. Decisions get made on a phone call and nobody is standing on site to see which board arrived, which is precisely when a marking and a test report stop being a formality. Keto Marine Plywood is manufactured to IS 710 on selected premium hardwood veneers with a high density core, bonded with unextended phenol formaldehyde resin, and the lot test report goes out with the consignment.
Boiling water resistance, glue shear and mycological checks are run against IS 710, and the lot test report is issued with the consignment rather than on request.
Unextended phenol formaldehyde resin with no fillers or extenders, and board marking that carries the manufacturer, year and batch as the standard requires.
Direct dispatch to Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Pilani, Surajgarh and Bissau workshops and sites, scheduled against the site programme.
Every Keto Ply panel carries the brand's borer, fungus and anti-termite guarantee in writing.
What actually separates marine plywood from a board that is only sold as marine, and how to check when you cannot be on site.
Request a Sample BoardThree things together, all set by IS 710: an unextended phenol formaldehyde bond, 72 hours submerged in boiling water with the plies still intact, and pressure preservative treatment. A board that misses any one of them is not marine grade, whatever it is called on the invoice.
IS 710 requires the manufacturer name or trademark, the year of manufacture, the timber species and a batch number marked on the face near one corner. Ask for the lot test report against that batch number. When the owner is not on site to see what arrived, the marking on the board and the report against its batch are the only record of what was actually supplied.
Preservative is pressure impregnated to the retention IS 710 requires, so termite, borer and fungal protection goes through the board rather than sitting on the surface where a saw cut removes it.
IS 710 sets a wet bending strength requirement, not just a dry one, so a shelf in a sink base or a vanity still carries what it is asked to carry after it has been soaked.
Hostel and school washrooms, new bathrooms fitted into old haveli walls, kitchen sink bases and cooler platforms. Dry furniture in the same building does not need it.
Supplied from the Yamunanagar unit with dealer, workshop and project pricing for Chirawa, plus dealership openings across Jhunjhunu and the Shekhawati belt.
Acceptance values laid down in IS 710 (Marine Plywood - Specification), tested as per IS 1734.
| Test | Method | Requirement | What it means on site |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water Resistance | IS 1734 (Parts 4 & 5) | Submerged in boiling water for 72 hours | Three full days of boiling, against eight hour cycles for BWR grade. |
| Glue Shear Strength (wet) | IS 1734 (Part 4) | 1000 N average, 800 N minimum | The glue line still carries load while the board is soaking wet. |
| Mycological Test | IS 1734 (Part 7) | No appreciable separation at the veneer edges | The bond resists fungal attack in permanently damp locations. |
| Preservative Retention | IS 10013 | Pressure impregnated, minimum 12 kg/m³ for CCA, CCB or ACC | Protection goes through the board, so a saw cut does not expose untreated wood. |
| Wet Bending Strength | IS 1734 (Part 11) | MOR 25 N/mm² along and 15 N/mm² across, tested wet | A shelf in a sink base still carries load after it has been soaked. |
| Moisture Content | IS 1734 (Part 1) | Not less than 5% and not more than 15% | A seasoned board that will not swell and push shutters out of line. |
These are the published IS 710 acceptance criteria for marine plywood. The lot specific test report is issued with every project consignment.
